People who live in Luxembourg and are thinking about having implants placed in Portugal nearly always ask the same questions: what it costs, what the health insurance fund covers, how many trips it takes, and how to check that the clinic and the practitioner are properly registered. Each one has its own page here, answered with what is written down and can be checked, never with a figure that has no source. Others come up too: how to spread a payment when the fund reimburses afterwards, and what can be treated in Porto apart from implants. One point to know before comparing: the CNS — the Caisse nationale de santé, Luxembourg’s national health insurance fund — does not cover the implant itself; it contributes to the fixed prosthesis, at 80% of the official tariffs, and at 100% for anyone who had their annual preventive dental check-up in each of the two previous calendar years. What has to be submitted, and when, should be confirmed with the fund. Treatment is carried out by the Instituto AreLuna, in Porto, where every case goes through a prior individual assessment and diagnosis before any plan exists.
The amounts shown are starting points. Treatment and the quotation depend on a prior individual examination and diagnosis, at the consultation with a 3D X-ray.
The questions above answer what can be answered in writing. What depends on each person’s case — available bone, general health, number of implants — is decided at the diagnostic consultation, with a 3D X-ray.
